* The above is the full list of parts that can be changed but tensioners and guides are the only pieces that need to be replaced at 100K. Oil pan needs to be removed if plastic pieces from the guides are missing. Since the front cover is already off the vehicle you may as well change the timing chains. It is also very difficult to remove the guides without removing the timing chains.

Always change the guides, tensioners, oil chain, oil tensioner, and front seal at the minimum. Water pump, belts, and hoses if not recently replaced.

If nothing goes wrong and you are experienced you can change guides in 6-7 hours of extremely concentrated labor. A Master mechanic can do his first ones in about 9 hours with advice. This assumes that all the guides are cracked but not broken. A tiny missing piece requires the pan drop which adds 5-10 hours depending on experience, the valve cover removal necessary for retiming is another 5-7 hours plus 2 for the chains. So one of our guys could do everything in 20 hours ....even less if it was planned from the start or we used 2 techs as a team. See we only charge $59 a hour vs most dealers $75-$80 but no loaner cars or super fancy waiting rooms. Remember in the auto repair business 46 minutes work is considered 1 hour for pay and my above hours are real not billable [x hours time 1.25].

Plenium does not come off for just the guide job, rather, front engine cover. I had trans cooler installed at same time, so radiator was removed also, giving the tech very good access to guide area. The front cover must come off! Chains are pretty much bullet-proof until 200K per T-3 experience. It IS the guides going south prematurely that can cause $$$$damage, not the chains, themselves, streatching, or breaking.

Window Regulator

Very common Q45 problem for the them to go bad. I've seen the "holder" on the glass break as well.

Let it be known if you if you own a Q45- you will end up replacing the window regulators. Same goes for the J30 * G20. It's that whole cable driven mechanism that Nissan uses. Isuzu had the same problem in the past as well.

The popping crunching noise is the usual sound of a bad regulator... not too difficult to change out. Seems like they're about $65.00.

Bose Stereo

It is very common to have the Bose stereo make noises thru the front speakers. Noises sound like screeches and pops. Sometimes at full volume, even when the stereo is not turned up all the way. There are a couple of places on the net that sell new speaker/amp modules for the front.  Some can repair your speaker/amp modules also. Be aware that there is a recall on the rear speakers, so you can jsut go get those replaced at the Infiniti dealer. There is an issue with the rear ones where on some cars they catch fire, so don't delay.
